Prayers of the People for Easter 4, 2016

We celebrate new life in Christ by bringing before God all those people and situations that need raising up, and asking that we be part of the healing process.

[Pause]

God of life, God of new life, you call us to question, to wonder, to explore.  Help us let go of finding the answers too quickly.  Help us embrace the not-yet-knowing.  We pray to the living God,
Lord, hear our prayer.

God of life, God of new life, you come to us in mystery, in questions without answers, in problems without solutions.  Enable us to let go of trying to arrive at the end.  Enable us to enjoy the journey.  We pray to the living God,
Lord, hear our prayer.

God of life, God of new life, we are confronted with needs and desires, with difficult tasks and impossible expectations.  Assist us to trust that it’s not about us; but that it’s about you.  We pray to the living God,
Lord, hear our prayer.

God of life, God of new life, you have called this congregation to new ventures and  a re-focussed ministry.  Guide us along our way.  May we leave the results in your hands.  We pray to the living God,
Lord, hear our prayer.

God of life, God of new life, we bring before you the people and situations which have no solutions, no way out, no way through.  We pray for the victims of war, hunger, poverty and power games.  We lift up the sick, the shut-in, the excluded and the grieving, especially [NAMES, AND] all those we name before you.
[Long pause]
We pray to the living God,
Lord, hear our prayer.

God of life, God of new life, you are the God of the impossible.  You have called us to join you.  Inspire us to respond.  We pray to the living God,
Lord, hear our prayer.

Trusting your life-giving promise, we offer these prayers in the name of Jesus, our living Saviour.
Amen.
