Prayers of the People for Feb. 20

P   Let us pray for the world God loves, the Church God calls, and all people according to their needs, saying, Christ, who faced the cross, and responding, Turn our eyes to you.

P  Dear Jesus, we are often blind to the dangers and temptations which surround us.  Open our eyes, not only to be aware of the traps that threaten us, but also to be aware of your presence which does not abandon us.
L  Christ, who faced the cross,
C  turn our eyes to you.

P  Dear Jesus, the greatest temptation we face is self-sufficiency.  Remind us that we are your creation, that we are wonderfully dependant on you, and that all good comes from your loving, generous hand.
L  Christ, who faced the cross,
C  turn our eyes to you.

P  Dear Jesus, you call us to care for our neighbour as you have cared for us.  Free us from the temptation of selfishness; free us to be servants.
L  Christ, who faced the cross,
C  turn our eyes to you.

P  Dear Jesus, we pray for those who need our prayers, who need a reminder of your love, who need your healing touch, especially those we name before you now.
[Pause]
L  Christ, who faced the cross,
C  turn our eyes to you.

L  We offer these prayers, as well as the deep longings of our hearts, to you, holy, forgiving God, in the name of Jesus, who taught us to pray, Our Father in heaven, ….
