Prayers of the People for Pentecost 26 / Ordinary 33

We pray with all the people of God throughout the ages, saying, “We pray in hope,” and responding, “Make all things new.”

[Pause]

God of endings, God of beginnings, you walk with us through all our valleys.  Enable us to embrace the changes that come.  We pray in hope,
Make all things new.

God of endings, God of beginnings, we fear loss of purpose, loss of direction, loss of control.  Give us vision, that we might start again with you.  We pray in hope,
Make all things new.

God of endings, God of beginnings, we are tempted to cling to the past, to hold on to what we knew.  Open our eyes to what you are doing around us; open our ears to what you have promised.  We pray in hope,
Make all things new.

God of endings, God of beginnings, as you walk with us, you strengthen us to walk with others.  We give thanks that we can support Syrian refugees, the people of the Philippines, the hungry of Waterloo Region.  Keep us open to being as generous with others as you have been with us.  We pray in hope,
Make all things new.

God of endings, God of beginnings, use us to bring your healing touch to those who experience illness, brokeness and isolation, especially those whom we name before you.
[Long Pause]
We pray in hope,
Make all things new.

God of endings, God of beginnings, help us trust your care.  We pray in hope,
Make all things new.

We offer these spoken prayers, our silent prayers, and the prayers for which we have no words, to you, loving God, in the name of our brother Jesus.
Amen.
