Prayers of the People for the fourth Sunday of Advent 2013

Walking in the hope of the coming Saviour, we pray for the world God loves, the Church God calls, and for all who wait for God’s justice, saying, Christ Jesus our Lord, and responding, Stir up your power and come.

[Short pause]

Speak to us, loving God.  Speak your Word.  Break through our stubbornness, our selfishness, our fear, and help us listen.  Christ Jesus our Lord,
Stir up your power and come.

Speak to us, loving God.  Speak your acceptance.  Strengthen us to break down the barriers we construct.  Christ Jesus our Lord,
Stir up your power and come.

Speak to us, loving God.  Speak your justice.  Soften our hearts, and open us to “The Other.”  Christ Jesus our Lord,
Stir up your power and come.

Speak to us, loving God.  Speak your coming.  Remake us into a faithful reflection of the one who came, and who continues to come.  Christ Jesus our Lord,
Stir up your power and come.

Speak to us, loving God.  Speak your healing desire for all of creation.  Hear our prayers for all those who need healing.
[Long pause]
Christ Jesus our Lord,
Stir up your power and come.

Speak to us, loving God.  And then, when we have heard, speak through us to the world you love.  Christ Jesus our Lord,
Stir up your power and come.

We ask all these things of you, loving God, who provides more than we can comprehend, and promises more than we can imagine, in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
