Prayers of the People for the Second Sunday of Christmas

Walking in the light of the Saviour, let us pray to God for the needs of the world, the ministry of the Church, and for all people everywhere, saying, “Christ Jesus, by your coming,” and responding, “Set us free for ministry.”

[Short pause]

God who comes, you speak yourself into our world, into our reality.  Help us listen for your voice; help us hear your call.  Christ Jesus, by your coming,
Set us free for ministry.

God who comes, you proclaim love and acceptance for all.  Help us live your welcome by reaching out to the despised, and embracing the unloved.  Christ Jesus, by your coming,
Set us free for ministry.

God who comes, you call us to an honest encounter with our own brokenness.  Walk with us as we struggle to acknowledge the truth about ourselves; remind us that nothing about us will stop your love for us.  Christ Jesus, by your coming,
Set us free for ministry.

God who comes, your openness to us inspires our own willingness to love.  Use us to touch those who are isolated, poor, ill or dying, especially those we name before you.
[Long pause]
May we speak your healing love into reality.  Christ Jesus, by your coming,
Set us free for ministry.

God who comes, inspire this congregation to respond to your invitation.  Free us from whatever holds us back, so we might speak your loving Word in Kitchener.  Christ Jesus, by your coming,
Set us free for ministry.

We pray in the name of Jesus, our light, our life, and our hope.
Amen.
