Prayers of the People for Christmas 2, 2015

Trusting that God’s reign has begun, and desiring to take part in it, we offer our prayers for the world God loves, the church God calls, and all people in any need, saying, “God who has come,” and responding, “Hear our prayer.”

[Short pause]

Loving God, you have moved into the neighbourhood, and joined us in this adventure called life. Remind us of your presence, and enable us to be present with the people around us. God who has come.
Hear our prayer.

Loving God, you express your very self to us in Jesus. Open our ears to hear you, and open our mouths to share you. God who has come.
Hear our prayer.

Loving God, you have come to make us more authentic human beings. Teach us every day to become a bit more loving, a bit less self-serving, and a bit more aware of the needs around us. God who has come.
Hear our prayer.

Loving God, in Jesus you shine the light of your life into the darkness of this world. Open our hearts to share your care and concern with the sick and shut-in, with the lonely and the unemployed, with the addicted and the excluded, with the refugee and immigrant, with the native and the foreign-born, and all those we name before you.
[Long pause]
God who has come.
Hear our prayer.

Loving God, you promise to guide your church into the future. Open the members of First South United Church to your prompting. Fill the members of Grace Lutheran Church with eagerness. Send us together into First South, Lunenburg, and Centre, desiring to help others become the authentic human beings you created them to be. God who has come.
Hear our prayer.

We pray in confidence, in the name of the one who came, who comes, and who is coming, Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
