Prayers of the People for the Fourth Sunday After the Epiphany, 2015

Having been called into the light of Christ, and trusting the Spirit’s guidance in our journey, we offer our prayers for the world God loves, the church God calls, and all people in any need.

[Short pause]

God of all people, open us to the people around us, and remind us that they are loved by you, even as we are. God of light,
Shine on us and through us.

God of the other, teach us through the others in our lives – about them, about ourselves, and about you. God of light,
Shine on us and through us.

God of diversity, touch our hearts through those who are different, that we may understand our discomfort, let go of our fear, and grow into the people you call us to be. God of light,
Shine on us and through us.

God of welcome, increase our desire to offer hospitality to the strangers among us: Jew and Muslim, Hindu and pagan, unbeliever and searcher. Reveal yourself in our midst. God of light,
Shine on us and through us.

God of healing, touch us with your presence, that our broken bodies and broken spirits, hurting relationships and hurting souls, damaged self-images and damaged friends, may be refreshed and renewed. We especially remember (NAMES, AND] those we name before you now.
[Long pause]
God of light,
Shine on us and through us.

God of the nations, use us, and all people of good will, to bring peace to the conflicted, food to the hungry, clothing to the cold, and your love to all. God of light,
Shine on us and through us.

We pray all this in the name of our light and our life, Jesus the Christ.
Amen.
