Prayers of the People for the Fourth Sunday in Lent, 2015

God has joined us in our journey of life. Trusting that presence, we offer our prayers for the world God loves, the church God calls, and all people in any need.

[Short pause]

God who reveals, you show yourself to us in the ordinary, in the mundane, in the every day. Open our eyes to look where you are to be found. [Pause] God who speaks in silence,
Come to us. Come through us.

God who reveals, you come to us in those places where we expect you not to be: in suffering, in loneliness, in death. Assist us to look in the hard places in life. [Pause] God who speaks in silence,
Come to us. Come through us.

God who reveals, you speak to us through people to whom we find it difficult to listen: those who speak different languages, wear different clothing, pray in different ways. Help us hear your Word to us, even if it is our enemies who are doing the talking. [Pause] God who speaks in silence,
Come to us. Come through us.

God who reveals, you are active in this community; you are breathing through this congregation. Free us from our old expectations; open us to see where you are moving; motivate us to join your dance. [Pause] God who speaks in silence,
Come to us. Come through us.

God who reveals, you promise health in the middle of sickness; you promise light when we cannot see; you promise life in the midst of death. Show your life-giving presence to those who are ill, who are hungry, who are refugees, who are excluded, especially [NAMES, AND] those whom we name before you. [Pause] God who speaks in silence,
Come to us. Come through us.

God who reveals, may we also be among those who speak your healing Word to this hurting world. May we also be among those through whom you reveal your love. [Pause] God who speaks in silence,
Come to us. Come through us.

We pray all this in the name of our Saviour, our companion and our guide, Jesus the Christ.
Amen.
