Prayers of the People for Palm/Passion Sunday, 2015

In Jesus, God has come into our world, embracing every aspect of our lives. We now respond to this gift in prayer for the world God loves, the church God calls, and all people in any need.

[Short pause]

Loving God, you come into the messiness of politics and opinion, of power and fear. Help us follow where you lead. God who embraces us,
Hear our prayer.

Loving God, you come into the messiness of relationships and friendships, of broken interactions and hurting hearts. Help us trust your presence. God who embraces us,
Hear our prayer.

Loving God, you come into the messiness of church and kingdom, into the confusion of divided loyalties. Help us see your light. God who embraces us,
Hear our prayer.

Loving God, you come into the messiness of this congregation and parish, in the midst of leaky roofs and lonely neighbours. Help us embrace your priorities. God who embraces us,
Hear our prayer.

Loving God, you come into the messiness of illness and pain, of fearful lives and unanswered questions, of unemployment and diminishing pensions, of uncertainty and apprehension. Use us to reach out into the messiness of the lives of [NAMES, AND] all those whom we name before you.
[Long pause]
God who embraces us,
Hear our prayer.

Loving God, you come into the messiness of our lives. Help us trust your presence, even here, even now. God who embraces us,
Hear our prayer.

We pray all this in the name of Jesus, who came, who comes, who has promised to come, our Saviour and our Friend.
Amen.
