Prayers of the People for Holy Trinity Sunday, 2015

Filled with promise, and empowered by love, let us offer our prayers to God.

[Short pause]

Gracious God, you have shown yourself to us as a God of love, who acts in love, who is defined by love. Enable us to embrace this gift. God of our baptism,
May our life be our prayer.

Gracious God, you have reached out to us in love, and have welcomed us as part of your people, the church. Strengthen US to reach out. God of our baptism,
May our life be our prayer.

Gracious God, you have called us to live as your people, to reach beyond ourselves, to impact our world. Use us to point to your way. God of our baptism,
May our life be our prayer.

Gracious God, in the face of injustice, you cry out for justice. In the face of poverty, you cry out for generosity. In the face of death, you bring new life. Inspire us to share your commitment to an equitable world. God of our baptism,
May our life be our prayer.

Gracious God, nothing will separate us from your love: not illness, not violence, not addiction, not hunger, not selfishness, not loneliness, not death. Use us to touch those around us who need a reminder of your presence, especially [NAMES, AND] those we name before you.
[Long pause]
God of our baptism,
May our life be our prayer.

Gracious God, you call this congregation to grow against hopelessness, to struggle against apathy, to embrace the challenge of today, to learn your love, to show your compassion. Remind us that we ARE yours. God of our baptism,
May our life be our prayer.

Trusting in the promise of unbounded love, we pray in Jesus’ name.
Amen.

Prayers of the People for Pentecost Sunday, 2015

Filled with promise, and empowered by love, let us offer our prayers to God.

[Short pause]

God who calls us, you have claimed each of us by name. We are your cherished children, called to share your care and compassion in this world. Fill us with your life.
Come, Holy Spirit.

God who strengthens us, you build us up through your Word of promise, through your family meal, through our time together. Empower us to seek out opportunities for service. Fill us with your life.
Come, Holy Spirit.

God who leads us, you direct us into your future, where relationships are restored, pain is alleviated, hunger is eradicated, and poverty is unknown. In spite of the obstacles we create, guide us into living this future today. Fill us with your life.
Come, Holy Spirit.

God who accompanies us, you never leave us alone. Remind those in the midst of illness, injustice and suffering that you walk with them, especially [NAMES, AND] those we name before you.
[Long pause]
May we be part of that reminder. Fill us with your life.
Come, Holy Spirit.

God who sends us, your world cries out. Help us respond. Your people suffer. Show us what we can do. Your creation groans. We have work to do. Fill us with your life.
Come, Holy Spirit.

Do not only answer our prayers, loving God. Use us to answer the prayers of the world, in the name of Jesus.
Amen.

Prayers of the People for the Sixth Sunday of Easter, 2015

Celebrating the mystery of new life in Christ, we pray for the world God loves, the church God calls, and all people in any need.

[Short pause]

God who brings new life, Hallelujah!  For the gift of faith which you give, and the desire to respond which you inspire, we give thanks.  God of resurrection,
Hear our prayer.

God who brings new life, Hallelujah!  For a clearer vision of your call, and a deeper longing to do what needs doing, we ask your help.  God of resurrection,
Hear our prayer.

God who brings new life, Hallelujah!  For the hunger for justice which you rouse within us, and the ability to embrace opportunities which surround us to do it, we ask for strength.  God of resurrection,
Hear our prayer.

God who brings new life, Hallelujah!  That this congregation and parish would discern your dream for us, and that we would be more willing to chase that dream, we ask your blessing.  God of resurrection,
Hear our prayer.

God who brings new life, Hallelujah!  For the women in our lives through whom you have given life, and supported our journey, we offer our grateful prayers.  God of resurrection,
Hear our prayer.

God who brings new life, Hallelujah!  For those who need our prayers: victims of violence and injustice, those who suffer from poverty and hunger, those who are ill or isolated, including [NAMES, AND] all those whom we name before you.
[Long pause]
We entrust them all to your care.  God of resurrection,
Hear our prayer.

God who brings new life, Hallelujah!  That you have used us to touch this community with your welcome, we give thanks.  Enable us to continue.  God of resurrection,
Hear our prayer.

We pray all this in the name of our risen Saviour, Jesus the Christ.
Amen.

Prayers of the People for the Fifth Sunday of Easter, 2015

Celebrating the mystery of new life in Christ, we pray for the world God loves, the church God calls, and all people in any need.

[Short pause]

God who brings new life, Hallelujah! Strengthen our faith, so that we might embrace becoming your disciples, no matter how long we’ve been at it. God of resurrection,
Hear our prayer.

God who brings new life, Hallelujah! Open our minds, so that we might be your life-long students, no matter how hard the lessons. God of resurrection,
Hear our prayer.

God who brings new life, Hallelujah! Free us from our fear, so that we might keep growing, no matter what we might be called to do. God of resurrection,
Hear our prayer.

God who brings new life, Hallelujah! Release us from our past, so that we might grow past being members of an organization, and continue growing into becoming your followers. God of resurrection,
Hear our prayer.

God who brings new life, Hallelujah! Unlock our hearts, so that we might share your love with the ill, the shut in, the depressed, the unemployed, the under employed, the stranger, the outsider, and those people who especially need our prayers, including [NAMES, AND] all those we name before you now. [Long pause] God of resurrection,
Hear our prayer.

God who brings new life, Hallelujah! You call us to continue becoming your disciples. Enable us to embrace the life you bring, whatever that might be, wherever that might lead. God of resurrection,
Hear our prayer.

We pray all this in the name of our risen Saviour, Jesus the Christ.
Amen.
