Prayers of the People for Pentecost 2 / Ordinary 10, June 7, 2015

Filled with promise, and empowered by love, let us offer our prayers to God.

[Short pause]

Welcoming God, you have claimed us as your people, the Church. Give us the courage to continue living into this holy identity. God of our baptism,
May our life be our prayer.

Gracious God, you reach into lives which, to all outward appearances, deny the possibility of your presence. Open our eyes to see your face in all we meet. God of our baptism,
May our life be our prayer.

Loving God, you promise your care and compassion wherever we go, wherever we are. Increase our faith to trust your promise, and use us to share that promise with all in any need, especially [NAMES, AND] those we name before you.
[Pause]
God of our baptism,
May our life be our prayer.

Engaging God, you call us to involvement in life, to connect with those who are different, to walk with those who are oppressed, to challenge those who abuse privilege. Take away our fear. God of our baptism,
May our life be our prayer.

Inspiring God, you embrace us in water, you feed us in bread and wine, you call to us in spoken word, you support us through family and friends. Remind us that these are not “ends,” but that they are only beginnings. God of our baptism,
May our life be our prayer.

Sending God, you have called us here, but you also call us out. Fill us with excitement at the prospect of serving your world. God of our baptism,
May our life be our prayer.

Trusting in the promise of unbounded love, we pray in Jesus’ name.
Amen.
