Prayers of the People for the 10th Sunday After Pentecost, 2015

Filled with promise, and empowered by love, let us offer our prayers to God.

[Short pause]

God who comes in water, in springs and rivers, in tides and rain; we give thanks for the welcome you have extended to us in baptism. Enable us to share what you have given us, and to care for your good creation. Remind us, loving God,
It’s all about the world.

God who comes in bread, in sandwiches and aid packages, we give thanks for the strength you provide in communion. Use the works of our hands to provide food for the hungry. Remind us, loving God,
It’s all about the world.

God who comes in wine, in raucous parties and quiet evenings together, we give you thanks for the gift of the communities of which we are a part. Draw us more closely together, that we may be more open to the whole human family. Remind us, loving God,
It’s all about the world.

God who comes in spoken word, in promises made and invitations extended, we give you thanks for the articulations of love and acceptance which we have heard. Open our mouths to sing your praise, and to cry out for a more just society. Remind us, loving God,
It’s all about the world.

God who comes in the people around us, we give you thanks for family and friends, for strangers and adversaries. Make us more aware of your presence, especially in the weak, the voiceless, the hungry, the poor, the different, the other, the sick [ESPECIALLY NAMES], and all those we remember before you.
[Long pause]
Move us beyond our immediate circle; move us to embrace all. Remind us, loving God,
It’s all about the world.

God who comes in Jesus, we give you thanks for your presence in our lives. May we be present in the lives of others. Remind us, loving God,
It’s all about the world.

Trusting in the promise of unbounded love, we pray in Jesus’ name.
Amen.
