Prayers of the People for Holy Trinity Sunday, June 11, 2017

Trusting the promise of God’s presence, now and forever, we offer our prayers for the world, the church, and all in need.

[Short pause]

Holy Three, Holy One, you create us, you restore us, you support and strengthen us.  That we would grow in trust of your promise, we offer our prayer,
Come Holy Spirit.

Holy Three, Holy One, your promise goes with us into every encounter, every disappointment, every hurt, every failure.  That we would remember your promise wherever we go, wherever we are, we offer our prayer,
Come Holy Spirit.

Holy Three, Holy One, every day we are confronted with what can’t be, what can’t be done, what can’t be attempted, what can’t be tried.  That we would learn to listen less to the fear around and within us, and more to your presence and call, we offer our prayer,
Come Holy Spirit.

Holy Three, Holy One, you call your Church to risk, to take chances, to go out on a  limb for the sake of those who have been forgotten.  That we would be willing partners in your work of reclaiming creation, we offer our prayer,
Come Holy Spirit.

ZION ONLY
Holy Three, Holy One, you have claimed Jacqui and Brandon as your beloved children.  That you would use them to challenge us to trust more extravagantly, that you would use us to support them to live more faithfully, and that you would use all of us to proclaim your love more enthusiastically, we offer our prayer,
Come Holy Spirit.

Holy Three, Holy One, your presence does not come in spite of our difficulties and challenges; your presence comes because of our difficulties and challenges.  As you remind us of your promise, use us to remind others who need a touch of your grace, especially [NAMES, AND] those we name before you now.
[Long pause]
That we would be faithful messengers of your promise, we offer our prayer,
Come Holy Spirit.

Holy Three, Holy One, your promise does not fail.  That you would help us hold on to your assurance, we offer our prayer,
Come Holy Spirit.

Trusting the promise of God, whose word cannot fail, we pray in the name of Jesus,
Amen.

Prayers of the People for Trinity Sunday, 2014

Since God has promised to hear our prayers, we offer our concerns for the world, the church, and all in need, saying, “Let us pray,” and responding, “Hear us, God of love.”

[Short pause]

God of mountain tops, you come to us through all of life.  You call to us in joy and in pain.  You make us your own.  Strengthen our faith, so we may respond to your invitation.  Let us pray,
Hear us, God of love.

God of faith and doubt, we struggle with our beliefs.  We are inconsistent in our actions.  We forget your promises.  Remind us that your love does not waiver, and that you go with us always.  Let us pray,
Hear us, God of love.

God of heaven and earth, we go nowhere without you.  Open our eyes to the opportunities which surround us – to point to your presence, to welcome the stranger, to live in your light.  Let us pray,
Hear us, God of love.

God of all nations, no one is beyond your compassion and care.  Enable us, in the face of division, to look for unity; in the face of hatred, to work for acceptance; in the face of illness, to bring health; in the face of death, to trust your promise of life.  We especially pray for those who need our prayers, whom we name before you now.
[Long pause]
Let us pray,
Hear us, God of love.

God of promise, you call us to make disciples.  You give us more than enough.  You go with us.  We celebrate your call.  Help us respond.  Let us pray,
Hear us, God of love.

We offer these prayers, as well as the unspoken desires of our hearts, to you, loving God, in the name of Jesus.
Amen.

Prayers for the Festival of the Holy Trinity

All of creation is enfolded in the loving arms of God.  In response, we pray for the world God loves, the church God calls, and all people in need, saying, “In your mercy,” and responding, “Hear us, O God.”

[Short pause]

God who is love, set us free from rigid philosophy.  Set us free from believing that we are saved by being right.  Set us free to love as you love, so we may care for the people and world you give us.  In your mercy,
Hear us, O God.

God who is love, creation proclaims your abundance.  Use us to share the gifts you provide, so that no one goes hungry.  In your mercy,
Hear us, O God.

God who is love, you continue to reach out to us, and call us to a better way.  Give us faith to let go of measuring value by results.  Give us grace to trust your promise.  In your mercy,
Hear us, O God.

God who is love, you send us as your hands and feet, ears and eyes into this broken, hurting world.  Save us from despair in the face of danger and loss.  Strengthen us to respond to whatever need confronts us.  In your mercy,
Hear us, O God.

God who is love, you do not abandon us in our illness, our poverty, our anger, our isolation.  Use us to touch those whom we name before you with your healing presence.
[Long pause]
In your mercy,
Hear us, O God.

God who is love, you share your very self with us.  As this congregation strives to grow and mature in our relationship with each other, help us remember that your love is given, not just for us, but for the sake of all.  In your mercy,
Hear us, O God.

Celebrating the love which will never let us go, we offer these prayers in the name of our living Saviour, Jesus the Christ.
Amen.
